This week on Fab…

Dear Friends

It has been a tough week for lots of people. For example, a good friend is in the hospital (hopefully having surgery today) and we hold him in prayer. Another friend’s husband is in a hospice receiving end-of-life care, another friend is severe back pain (getting the MRI results today), and another friend is struggling and at a loss as to how to support someone in great need. Tough times indeed.

On the ground here in Bermuda, we have been up to our eyes in business which I do not understand as I only work Sunday mornings right??? Thanks to the incredibly generous donation from a church member, I spent Friday evening and all of Saturday installing a second screen at the rear of our church building so that our choir (and I) can see the projected words. It was quite a hairy moment with a 70″ TV dangling by ropes from a balcony but it works and it is so cool! Then, yesterday we had a large Advent celebration followed in the evening by our Mulled Wine and Carols. It is amazing how a few cups of mulled wine can help one lead worship, hic!! Did anyone notice???

With all this in mind, this Sunday’s Bible reading was about Elizabeth, and it was good to reflect on this character we read about in the Bible who gave the most wonderful prophecy and encouragement to her cousin Mary. We all need an Elizabeth in our lives, right? You can read or listen to this week’s podcast here:

Moving along in Luke’s gospel, this week’s Insight is called Bombshell, and it is the bombshell that Jesus dropped in a synagogue one Sabbath. I hope it helps you to stop, think, and reflect:

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve, and although for some of us it is a wonderful, tinsel-filled, bauble-lit occasion, for others it can be a tough time, especially for those bereaved, with broken relationships, or struggling with illness and pain. Do reach out if you want to chat! We love hearing from you.

Heaps of Christmas Peace
