Fab News
This week on Fab…
Dear Fabbers
Apologies for the lateness of this week’s Insight and Podcast. No excuses, other than being very tired! By coincidence, both feature the same Bible passage! So there you go… an Insight AND a Devotional that go together. Enjoy it while it lasts! lol
It’s been an emotional week for us. On Sunday we announced to our geographical parish church that we sense God leading us on, and that our last Sunday with the parish church will be 27th July. We gave six months notice in the hope that the church will be able to organise a continuity of ministry.
The parish ministry work is going incredibly well. The church attendance has doubled since we took it on, and bearing in mind all those who have died, those for whom the changes we introduced were unpalatable, and that we took the church on at the beginning of COVID, we have been very blessed indeed. Yet, Helen and I are both tired. We have thrown everything into parish ministry and worked hard to positively change the trajectory of the church — something I hope we have done. We also need to spend more time in the UK with our family. We explored all sorts of options such as job sharing or working 3 months on and 1 month off but these ideas didn’t take root. We also explored taking a sabbatical but we were not eligible. There are several other minor, personal reasons too that we won’t go into, but all in all, we wrestled for ten months, had chats with both the bishop and archdeacon, before deciding to hand in our notice. The hardest part of all will be leaving our beloved church family. At interview we promised we would serve for 5 years and this we will have done. We don’t have a job to go to, but we will listen, discern, and be open to God’s leading. We have a few inklings and ideas, but it’s very early days! Coincidentally (or not) July 2025 was when we envisioned properly launching FAB Church, and we look forward to continuing our online ministry wherever we end up! FAB is here to stay!
I hope you’re making use of the Daily Breads. You don’t need to log into to read them as they are publicly available to all — just go to the website! You can read previous Daily Breads here: https://fab.church/daily-bread/
This week’s Insight is called ‘How does God mediate grace to us?’ where we explore how God’s grace is more than enough. It is superabundant and it is for you and for all:

Talking of Superabundance, this week’s Devotional (Bible Study) on Luke 5:6-7 is on the same theme:

Helen and I are now on a staycation in Bermuda having a few days respite (although it’s still a working week). I’m not going to tell you that it’s warm enough to sunbathe, that we have a suite overlooking the ocean, and are currently watching a tropical sunset! Sorry!!
Have a FAB week.
Love to you all.
