This week on Fab

G’day Fabbers!

I hope this newsletter finds you well. It has been rather remiss of me not to send out emails the past few weeks – oops!

Looking back…

It seems that each week I have a new project. Last week, a local church asked me to review a report on ‘being church’ here in Bermuda, and after some brief feedback and an online meeting, they asked me to put pen to paper! The task was to write an informal account describing how I would, if starting from scratch, do church here in Bermuda. The resulting 4500 word informal essay was posted on my Blog (did you know FAB Members can have a blog?). It’s called Fluid Church – Eat, Pray, Love — A vision for a new kind of Church in Bermuda and you can read it here: https://fab.church/blog/fluid-church-eat-pray-love/
It has been an unprecedented week in terms of news coming out of Europe, North America, and Russia, and I don’t need to tell you how it is affecting everyone in one way or another. I am a big fan of former Archbishop Rowan Williams (who I refer to as a theological brain on legs), and two quotes of his were shared with me this week:
“The hallmark of authentic Christianity is a concern for those the rest of society has abandoned.”
“One of the tests of actual faith, as opposed to bad religion, is whether it stops you from ignoring things.”
Suffice to say, as Christians we cannot ignore ‘things’ especially when there is a lack of concern for those the rest of society has abandoned. Part of our mandate from Jesus is to stand up for the marginalised, the broken, the poor, the weak, the sick, the lonely, the hurting, the downtrodden, and the forgotten.

Daily Breads

The daily bread devotionals seem to be going down well, and you may have noticed that each day there is an [Amen] button you can press! Anyone can view the Daily Breads directly from the front page of the website, and if you click on the date it takes you to a single page with that Daily Bread. Here is today’s: https://fab.church/word/3rd-march-2025/

You will notice too, in the top right hand corner a little icon that lets you copy the URL to make it easier to share content from Fab (if you feel so inclined).

This week…

This week’s Insight (and podcast) is called ‘How does God really see us?’ and is based on Bible readings from Exodus and Luke. You can read, listen, or watch here: https://fab.church/insights/how-does-god-really-see-us/

And this week’s Bible Study is called Seek and is a reminder that we only need to have faith in the rabbi Jesus, and if we seek him, we will find him! You can engage with the Bible Study here: https://fab.church/devotionals/63-seek/

I hope you have a wonderful week, and that the Spirit of Christ works in and through you to bless everyone you meet. I’d better go and start prepping my Ash Wednesday talk, and my talk for the Cathedral Guild’s 129th Anniversary Service (that’s gonna be a posh one).

Heaps of Peace and love in Christ
