Fab News
This week on Fab…
G’Day Fabbers!
Well, I write this from my sick bed (or sick sofa). Last Thursday night I came down with what I thought was just a cold, but it then got worse and knocked me out! I currently feel ‘out of it’ and exhausted and I have fallen asleep twice today (something I never do!). Anyway, as my body fights off this infection or whatever it is, I thought I could still write something to you all.
Last Wednesday was Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. I think I was coming down with something because I didn’t feel great whilst writing and delivering my Ash Wednesday talk — like it slightly missed its mark, but here it is. It’s on the theme of fasting. I’m afraid I didn’t get to recording it and currently have no voice!

On Sunday, many churches celebrated International Women’s Day, and our own Helen Tyte, co-pastor at Fab Church gave an inspiring talk on Gender Equality. I can’t express how wonderful it is to share in God’s ministry with Helen, and you can read, listen, or watch her message here:

As if two Insights were not enough, on Sunday I was also due to speak at a 129th Guild (a bit like a Mothers’ Union) celebration at our cathedral, but being ill I couldn’t make it. I very much wanted to communicate some of the theology we share at Fab, about how the Holy Spirit works through us, but never got to speak, and so from my bed, I quickly finished the talk and pushed it out. Again, because I have no voice, it’s not been recorded, but you can read it here:

We are very blessed to have, as part of our membership, other pastors and lay preachers, and one of them is a dear friend and spiritual companion Marie Loewen. Marie spent three years sharing ministry with me in Bermuda and recently moved back to Ontario. Marie has a deep spirituality and a wonderful way with words, and so I am more than thrilled that she has shared one of her writings with us on Fab. This piece is called The Doorway, and it spoke to me deeply:

A reminder that if you are a currently a Guest of Fab and want to make Fab one of your ‘churches’ please do sign up to become a Member. There’s no cost, only a commitment to loving, accepting, and journeying with each other.
I know I’m not the only one of us ill at the moment, and I’m sure I’ll be back on my feet in a day or two, but if you could spare a moment to hold Helen and I in your prayers that would be most appreciated.
Sending heaps of love to you all in the name of Jesus Christ
