This week on FAB Church

Hello Fabbers!

Happy Hump Day! We hope and pray you have had a wonderful week so far.

On Sunday we had a lovely FAB worship gathering on ZOOM where we explored the story of Zacchaeus, the chief tax collector who Jesus called down from a tree. This is a story with multiple layers of symbolism both in the geographical setting and the tree itself. Why did Luke mention that the story took place in Jericho? And why did Luke specify the exact kind of tree that Zacchaeus climbed? If you have not read or listened to this week’s Insight and Podcast then you can do so here: https://fab.church/insights/what-is-salvation/

As you know, we have a ministry into marginalised LGBTQ+, poly, and kink communities. Not that all those in these communities are marginalised but some have been pretty squashed or hurt by the church and we do our best to let them know they are loved by God. To this end, because not one but three people over the past few weeks had spoken with Gav about aspects of cross-dressing, he decided to write an Insight offering a biblical and theological perspective on this lifestyle choice. We are indebted to those who provided feedback and helped us hone the article and we are thrilled that, already, several people ‘outside’ the church have found it comforting and beneficial. You can read or listen to the podcast here: https://fab.church/insights/can-i-be-a-christian-and-a-cross-dresser/

From one end of the spectrum to the other, a while back Gav (with some help from Helen and our FAB friend Ali) wrote a kid’s praise song called Rooted in My God, and a local church reached out asking for a video they could play in their Sunday school, and so we turned FAB Member Lisa-Dawn’s kitchen into a studio. Gav recorded the vocals, shot a video of Helen doing the ‘moves’, and produced a sing-along-video! If you need cheering up, it is fun and uplifting, and you can watch the video here: https://fab.church/creativity/rooted-in-my-god/

Today’s Bible Devotion is called Trust, and is based on Luke 8.24-25. We find it fascinating that Jesus rarely seemed to be interested in where people used to be, but where they are now. We post a devotion every day on FAB, share it to our social media, and you can read today’s devotion here: https://fab.church/devotion/95-trust/

And finally, this Sunday, we will be holding an online Bible Study (reflection and chat) on the theme of Resurrection. It will take place at 6pm UTC (GMT). Please do join us if you are able, and you can find all the details and the ZOOM link here: https://fab.church/gathering/resurrection/

We are still having issues with our web app notifications, so thank you for your patience as we try to resolve why they stopped working! It is very frustrating but we are doing all we can to get them working again.

We hope and pray the rest of your week goes well. Thank you for being part of FAB, either as a Guest journeying with us, or as a Member.

Be fabulous to everyone!

Rev Gav and Helen xxx
