If there is a God, why does he allow suffering?

I have been thinking through and perhaps my insight was less ‘why does God allow suffering’ and more ‘why does indiscriminate suffering exist’

Both are connected.

But the conclusion was we are working towards a time when there will be no more pain or suffering, and we are called to bring that future into our present. In the same way that Jesus came into our world of suffering to stand with us, so we, led by the Spirit, stand with others in their suffering. The presence of God brings peace ‘that transcends all understanding’ and we can receive that peace and be that peace for others.
