I do think that maybe there was a practical reason, that being to dispel rumors of Jesus being the son of a Roman soldier or the like, rumors that are still abundant today. Of course, who his father was really isn’t as important as what his message was. Though being God IS rather a plus in regard to validating his message. 😉 IDK, I’m just glad that the story is there! 🙂
