I totally would have been that kid! Sometimes we carry this stubbornness into adulthood, going our own way, and doing our own thing, however, I wonder if it’s about boundaries? For example, I know I push people and God, thinking (irrationally), “Will they still love me if I do X?” For me, it’s about that deep-down desire for love and acceptance.
